This Wonderful Vintage Mexican Sterling Brooch dates back to a most desirable period of Vintage Mexican Silver Jewelry. Fred Davis and William Spratling were the leaders of the revival of the Mexican Silver Jewelry Industry. They employed skilled Silversmiths to execute their designs and create their own superb pieces where they established shops in Taxco and Mexico City. During the first half of the Twentieth Century, silver items produced in Mexico were simply stamped "Silver" or "Sterling", and sometimes with the location as marked with this Brooch. The hallmark in back is prior to the Eagle Mark in 1948 and way before the Registry System started in 1979 where letters and numbers were used.
