Measurements for the Locket are 1" in length by 7/8" in width (excluding the Bale and Jump Ring). Side depth is 3/8". Chain is 30" in length.

This Victorian Mourning Locket is a Rare Antique! It is a Compact Locket which holds Four Tin Type Photographs of a Mother with her Daughters and her Beloved Son who is deceased. It is an Accordion Style Locket with hinges which fold out. Each Photo is set in a frame behind the Glass. When I went to adjust the Mother's photo, behold I found a piece of black silk cloth used as part of her mourning process for her son. The Victorians developed an elaborate set of funeral traditions to honor their loved ones who passed away. There are Lily Flowers beautifully engraved on the Locket. The Lily Flower is the symbol used for majesty, innocence, purity, and resurrection. The use of lilies at funerals symbolizes the restored innocence of the soul at death.

This Locket is in Excellent Antique condition. All Glass Covers are completely intact. No chips or cracks! There are no dents or dings.

The Locket comes on a Newer Long 30" Black Spinel Vermeil Chain. The Chain has Black Faceted Spinels and Antiqued Vermeil Wire-wrapped Links which is in keeping with the theme of the Mourning Jewelry. The Chain easily slides over your head or use the working Spring Ring Clasp in back.
